Important Information About 8th Grade
This is a long note, but it provides important information regarding expectations for CLC 8th Graders.
A CLC 8th Grader must meet several requirements, and a CLC 8th Grader will take on a number of responsibilities. This note will document those requirements and responsibilities. It will also briefly discuss how meeting the requirements and responsibilities will enable them to participate in the 8th Grade Trip.

8th Grade End-of-Year-Project/Presentation Overview
All 8th Grade students must complete and present an 8th Grade End-of-Year-Project. 8th Grade Events to Raise Money for 8th Grade Trip
Traditionally, the 8th Grade Class has worked to raise, on average, seven thousand dollars in order to go on a trip at the end of the year. The trip may be a one-day or two-day trip depending upon the amount of money raised.
Students are required to fully participate in all 8th-grade activities, but I understand that family events and emergencies might prevent a student from fully participating in an 8th Grade Activity. When this occurs, the student must meet with Mark to make other arrangements. This should not be a common occurrence.
Fall Carnival/Haunted House/Chili Cook-Off
The 8th Grade Class will host a Fall Carnival. We will still host a student Haunted House, but it will be one aspect of our Fall Carnival. 8th Grade Pizza Sales
The 8th Grade Class will sell pizza once a week. Not all 8th Graders will need to participate in pizza sales. Pizza sales might be a good activity for a student to participate in if they anticipate that they will miss another required activity.
Winter Fundraiser (may or may not happen)
This may involve a traditional candy bar sale or something of that nature. This has yet to be determined and may or may not happen.
Responsibilities
8th Graders must consistently meet the responsibilities outlined below in order to continue to participate in 8th Grade Activities and attend the 8th Grade Trip. I will be monitoring students on a weekly basis with a yes or no vote from the staff on whether the student is meeting his or her responsibilities. Three successive weeks of no votes or five overall no votes will result in the student being removed from 8th-Grade Activities and 8th Grade Trip. They will, however, still be responsible for completing the 8th Grade End-of-Year-Project/Presentation. (Parents will be informed of any no votes or problems in a timely fashion so that they can intervene when necessary.)
